International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons
Today, on the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, we underscore the vital importance of a world free from the threat of nuclear devastation.
While the global focus rightly centers on nuclear disarmament, we wish to reaffirm the Islamic Republic of Iran's unwavering commitment to the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. Iran, as a proud member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and subject to rigorous international inspections, has consistently affirmed that its nuclear pursuits are solely for peaceful purposes. Yet, we must also confront the unsettling reality of the Zionist regime's unacknowledged nuclear arsenal and its refusal to embrace NPT membership. This situation presents a grave risk to regional peace and security. Israeli regime's nuclear opacity and its exclusion from international non-proliferation initiatives destabilize our region and heighten the threat of nuclear proliferation. On this occasion, we urge the global community to recognize the inherent right of every nation to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful goals, such as generating clean electricity and producing essential medical isotopes. It is our shared responsibility to champion and uphold the principles of the NPT while advancing the cause of global peace and security. Furthermore, we call upon the international community to exert pressure on Zionist regime to join the NPT and to commit to the complete elimination of its nuclear arsenal. Let us persist in our collective efforts towards a world where nuclear weapons are eradicated, enabling nations to harness the potential of nuclear energy for the betterment of all humankind.
