Georgian translation of Ferdowsi's Shahnameh unveiled at ceremony attended by Iranian Ambassador and Georgian Minister of Culture

Georgia and Iran strengthened their cultural ties through the unveiling of the Georgian translation of Ferdowsi's Shahnameh. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia hosted a ceremony at the Tbilisi Art Academy to unveil the first four volumes of the nine-volume translation, which was published with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Georgia.

The event was attended by Mahmoud Adib, the Iranian ambassador in Tbilisi, Thea Tsolokyani, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia, and Professor Bela Shalvashvili, an Iranian scholar and the translator of the Shahnameh. During the ceremony, Adib praised the translation and its significance in deepening cultural ties between Iran and Georgia.

Adib also proposed that Georgian artists create plays and symphonies based on the stories of the Shahnameh, which Tsolokyani welcomed. She also suggested a joint unveiling of the Georgian translation of the Shahnameh in Iran.

The event concluded with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation and a gift from the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Mrs. Shalvashvili. The translation of the Shahnameh into Georgian is a significant step in introducing the work to a wider audience and promoting cultural exchange between the two nations.
